Gogungugok means “nine features,” which are Bangwhagye (the season where the flowers bloom in every rock), Cheongokhyeop (a canyon with clear and deep water), Sinnyeohyeop (a valley of a Taoist fairy), Myeongokroe (the sharp crack, like when jade is smashed and broken), Waryongdam (pond of the lying dragon), Myeongwolgye (valley of the bright moon), Yunguiyeon (deep water in honor of one’s will), and Cheopseokdae (layered rocks).
