Jjokbae Festival
Infinite imagination spreading over the water,
a country of water, Hwacheon
- Location: Bungeoseom, Hwacheon-gun and the area around the sports complex gymnasium
- homepage: www.narafestival.com/02_water
- About the Festival: The Hwacheon Jjokbae Festival, set against a backdrop of pristine nature, offers various cultural and dynamic water experiences before the breath of the cool evening river winds sigh across the landscape, is preparing for a more exciting festival in the summer of 2015.
Festival Story: The festival scene
The JjokBae Festival is composed of a variety of summer experience programs under the slogan Suri Hwacheon, which means that all things are solved well when people come to Hwacheon where water is of fine quality. Among them, water bicycle, kayaking, outdoor swimming pool, kayak slalom experience center, making leaves and small boats, etc., has been operated, and experience events such as a river-side water park and zipline riding will also be held.
When arriving at the festival grounds, it is hot getting out of the car, but the excitement of fun in the water awaits. You can enjoy the scenery around Bungeoseom Island, or check out the festival grounds that host a chartered ship race, a watercycle ride, and a scream-inducing zipline. In order to promote the JjokBae Festival, chartered ship races are held with the collaboration between community organizations, civil servants, military units, and all the residents to make the place one for citizens of Hwacheon-gun, and you can enjoy a more impressive competition.
In the area of Bungeoseom Island where the festival is held, a parking lot, an event hall, and water facilities are built. A floating bridge and a zipline wire are installed on the opposite side of the Finish Tower for you to move in the air. The scenery while riding zipline to the Bungeoseom Island is brief but fantastic. I guess we can tell why the program’s name is “sky splitting.” If you look at the fountain installed on the water flowing under the floating bridge, you can forget the heat temporarily.
You can spot an indigo-color natural dye experience zone while looking around at the Bungeoseom event venue. In the indigo natural dye experience zone, you can see children and families enjoying various activities, such water gun fights, indigo dying, drawing a small boat, making things with wood, making a leaf boat, and dying fingernails with garden balsam flowers. Watching the children explore various experiences always brings a smile to visitors’ faces. Families, children, and couples can enjoy swimming at swimming pools, kayaking, and Bungeoseom cycling.
After enjoying the festival, you can move to the campsite located at one side of Bungeoseom to close the day. If you booked a tent village in advance, you can stay in the tent without having to bring camping supplies yourself. Of course, you will need to prepare your meals and bedding separately. You can enjoy dinner, feeling the romance of camping in the midst of Hwacheon’s natural splendor. The sound of a bug and river breeze will ease the day’s weariness. The JjokBae Festival is a fun event that concludes with romance.
