About the attractions

This 875m above sea level mountain is the most famous in Hwacheon and creates a magnificent view covered with fantastic rocks that have different legends. Every year, Yonghwasan mountain rituals are perfroemd during the Yonghwa Fest and are popular for its one-day hiking course. There is a paved road from the mountain summit to the 1km point and there are also parking facilities, making it frequently visited by work and organization picnics. Furthermore, all of Hwacheon-gun and Chuncheon can be seen at the summit and its clear mountain waters offer refreshment to hikers.

  • Yonghwasan has the legend that a centipede and snake would fight in which the victor would become a dragon. It is filled with wild ginseng, attracting ginseng enthusiasts from around the nation. Furthermore, mushroom that grow naturally in the area have such great scent and quality that almost all of it is exported to Japan. It is also the holy ground of Unified Shilla. There are ancient temple grounds and other remains such as Hobeobjangeung and stone Buddhist statues, bringing part of the past to us today. The fantastic rocks such as shimbawi and gombawi, in which legend has it that Shimmani dreamed of a white-haired elder and was able to find a large wild ginseng, create a spectacular view. The 8.3km hiking course and the rock-cliffs that seem to be cut by God himself, is one of the most popular one-day hiking courses in the Seoul area.
